I’m Back!!!
Hello everyone! Sorry for the long break between posts! I’ve been a little busy, but this is the first of many! I promise!
I recently visited Nagasaki for the first time. I was amazed by the natural beauty and history that lives and breathes in the city. Nagasaki is a city that has always fascinated me since I was young and it did not disappoint!
Edo Period History:
The Glover House is one of the original Dutch settler’s homes you can tour in Nagasaki.
There are escalators that will bring you most of the way to the top where the Glover House is located. It also has a great view of Nagasaki port.

Chompon ramen is one of the famous dishes that originates in Nagasaki. It is a vegetable and pork ramen that satisfies hunger and taste buds.
Never Again!
Nagasaki is also famous for being the victim of a tragic event. It was the second city hit by the massively destructive force of an atomic bomb during WWII. Next year marks the 80th anniversary of the bombing. Even nearly 80 years later, the city is still affected by the effects of the bomb.
This is a picture of the hypocenter, the place where the bomb detonated about 500 meters above this spot. At the time of detonation, the heat generated was between 3,900°C-5,400°C.
This is a preserved section of ground zero. You can see the various debris generated from the impact.

Water is a big part of the memorials in both Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The water symbolizes an offering to the victims. Many victims begged for water before they died.
